Our Background
The Greater Peterborough Area Economic Development Corporation (GPA EDC) is a regional economic development organization contracted to provide investment attraction & expansion and tourism services for the City and County of Peterborough, Ontario.

Formed in 1998, the GPA EDC operates as a non-profit corporation without share capital governed by a Board of Directors under the Corporations Act of Ontario. In July 2005 the City and County of Peterborough renewed their successful partnership with the GPA EDC by entering into a 3-year agreement that commits base funding through 2008. Subsequently the Letters Patent of the Corporation were amended to remove political appointees from the Board and install the chief administrative officers of the City and County of Peterborough as ex-officio directors. Since inception the GPA EDC has had influence on an estimated 2000 new jobs for the region, attracted almost $6 million in external funding and been recognized with over 20 industry awards.
